The community of Mission is a trendy inner-city hot spot in the city of Calgary. The community of mission is located on the corner of 17th Avenue SW and 4th Street SW. The East of the community is bound by the Elbow River, and 1St Street SE (which is Southbound Macleod Trail).
Mission is a small community with a mix of low-rise and high rise condominiums, old (Victorian style) century homes, and estate homes. They also range from the multi-million to the low to mid $100,000s for the condos.
Mission has been revitalized to an upscale area with tons of restaurants, coffee shops, and trendy shopping. Bordered by the Elbow River and the community of Beltline, you get the best of all worlds. Popular for young professionals as Victoria Park/Stampede or Erlton C-Train Station is walking distance away and about a 15-minute walk to the Downtown Core. 4th Street Mission is filled with eateries, and 17th Avenue SW is a short walk away. Plenty of green space and parks to walk your pet. Mission is also located next to a large aquatic and fitness center, Repsol Sport Centre (Formally Talisman Centre or Lindsay Park).
The communities of Mission, Erlton, and Roxboro are prone to flooding as they are located in the flood zones and have seen flooding during the Spring when the excess snow-melt flow from the Elbow River. The city has put in a lot of measures to ensure flooding in these areas is reduced or mitigated, most homes have been remediated.
