Description

Shaganappi is an inner-city infill community located in the South West quadrant of the city of Calgary. It is surrounded by other infill communities including: Killarney, Rosscarrock, Spruce Cliff, Sunalta. It is bounded by Bow Trail, and 17th Avenue from the North, and South; and 24th Street and 33rd Street/Spruce Drive SW. Bow Trail is a major roadway that connects this community to Downtown, and runs through the community.

The community of Shaganappi is one of the perfect infills communities for what it has to offer. Shaganappi Point C-Train/LRT Station connects this community via the West LRT to the Downtown Core. This station is only 2 stops to/from Downtown West End. Bow Trail is a major artery into the Downtown Core. Since the West LRT was completed in December 2012, Bow Trail has also received an upgrade and was widened. With more ridership of commuters, that has also eased the traffic from Bow Trail. 

Shaganappi has one of the oldest community associations in the city, the neighbourhood was officially formed in 1949. Shaganappi Association includes the communities of Shaganappi, Sunalta West, and Upper Scarboro areas. Recreation at the Shaganappi Community Association includes: Skating, Tennis, and a Little Free Library, it is also surrounded by green areas, and parks. 

Amenities in and around Shaganappi Community includes: Shaganappi Point Golf Course, Quarry Road Trail along the Bow River, Pathways and Bike trails, Lowery Gardens, Douglas Fir Trail. Westbrook Mall is located just on the other side of 33rd Street SW. Westbrook Mall has stores like Walmart, Dollarama, Medical/Dental/Chiropractic, Sport Chek, Tim Hortons and other fast food, and in the same Parking Lot of Westbrook Mall has shops: Nicholls Family Library, Jubilations Dinner Theatre, Spa Lady Fitness Centre, and Boston Pizza.
